The reason most pitchers struggle to develop efficient pitching mechanics and never throw as hard as they should is simple… They over-think any and everything and are never taught how to FEEL it for themselves.
As you know, once you can FEEL it for yourself, you never forget it. And that’s exactly what I’m going to share with you today. How to FEEL and Fix difficult problems easily and in a matter of minutes without you having to know a single thing about pitching mechanics.
It’s true.
Most of us make pitching way more difficult than it should be, including myself. Too often, pitching coaches are guilty of being painters instead of sculptors when it comes to developing pitchers. A painter wants to add to the palette by talking more and adding more and more drills that don’t really tackle the REAL problem. A sculptor, on the other hand, adds by subtracting.
Allow me to introduce my latest training methodology I refer to as Movement Mazes.
Movement Mazes have been by far the fastest and most effective way to develop high-level pitching mechanics without me ever having to speak a single word. The truth is, a movement maze is very similar to the old school game we knew as Operation. Remember that?

Here’s how the Movement Mazes teach pitchers to teach themselves:
- Eliminates the need for a pitching coach.
- Provides instant sensory feedback they can FEEL.
- Creates a simple goal and clear intention for the player.
- Instantly lets the pitcher know whether he is successful or unsuccessful.
Here’s a few of my favorite Movement Mazes and why I use them:
- Toilet plungers to FEEL Lead leg blocking. (It’s amazing these unclog so much of the sh** going on in pitchers’ heads)
- Laser Pointer Leg Drive: This is by far one of the most effective at instantly teaching pitchers how to use their legs to increase ground force, without ever having to think about it.
- PVC Pitching Pipes: Think of these as bowling bumper pads which gives the body no choice but to move efficiently.
As of today, I’ve listed over 40 Movement Mazes I’ll be using this summer inside my Level 1 and 2 pitching programs this summer. So, before we go, I’m going to share with you one of my favorites to fix a problem most pitchers didn’t know they even had.
Matching The Hands & The Feet: The reason so many pitchers struggle to create easy velocity, better stride alignment and lead leg blocking is because the front leg path doesn’t match the throwing arm’s path. This disconnect instantly forces the pitcher to use more arm and increases the stress while lowering their velocity. (The front leg action should NEVER be taught but sadly it is and it’s why so many never develop efficient pitching mechanics.)
Below is my son Rex using the “Bucket Sweeps”.

Bucket Sweeps are designed to:
- Keep the middle in the middle. (If you can’t keep the middle in the middle you’ve got ZERO chance of being efficient)
- Maximize the stretch reflex in order to wind his body up like a rubber band to throw harder, easier.
- Match the movement of his front leg and throwing arm to enhance timing and sequencing.
- Develop the most efficient path to match up his front leg and glove-side in order to eliminate any wasted time or movement.
If you’d like to experience how easy it truly is to teach your pitcher how to teach himself, I’d highly recommend you reserve your son’s spot to one of my 3-Day Core Velocity Training Programs this summer. I’ll be adding Level 2 Programs on the schedule soon but those are only available to pitchers’ who have previously attended a Core Velocity Program.
Attn Coaches: Due to so many requests I’ll be offering 2-Day Pitching Coach Core Velocity Camps where I’ll walk you through my entire system, holding nothing back. If you’re interested, reply in the comments below or reach out by email.

I am interested in learning how to use the CVB with our organization (we have 13 teams in it). I have limited availability to travel so that is the problem I have, so if there is anyway to learn this “remotely” it would be great.
Thank you Lance!
