I can remember leaving his office thinking…
I’ve got a lot to learn.
In fact, I’d never met anyone whom had as much knowledge as he had.
Here was a guy coaching in the SEC, and was revered as the top pitching coach in America…and after spending just 2 hours with him, I would never look at pitching the same again.
For years, I had spent time reading and researching pitching mechanics but with the same result.
I was confused and frustrated by all the experts and to be honest, it made everything worse.
I was a freaking college pitching coach and to be honest, I didn’t even understand the concept of arm action.
I had never heard the word intent, except in the SVU, when referring “intent to kill”.
At least I had some background.
But when he started discussing the importance of tempo and momentum and how it all intertwined inside the velocity equation, I just shook my head like I knew what he was talking about… but I had no idea.
If you’re wondering who I’m talking about, it’s Derek Johnson.
Derek is the former pitching coach at Vanderbilt University and is now the Major League Pitching Coach for the Cincinnati Reds.
The first time I ever had the opportunity to meet and speak pitching with him was during my first year at Lipscomb University…since that day, I’ve never viewed pitching the same.
So, when you’re talking to a “pitching guy” like DJ, you listen…
When he recommends that you check out another pitching guy’s information and tells you how it impacted his thoughts and views on pitching…
You check it out, as fast as you can!
And that’s exactly what I did, in fact, I can honestly say I spent well over 1,000 hours researching the work of this unknown “pitching guru” that DJ recommended.
I could have never guessed that the hours upon hours researching his website would lead me to where I am today…(I can honestly say, I bet I spent close to 1,000 hours on his site.)
He was the first I ever heard talk or discuss pitching mechanics from the inside out. At a time when everyone was referring to balance point and stride length, he was saying to hell with all that…
And to this day, I still credit this man, along with many others, for influencing my philosophy on pitching.
In fact, I credit 99% of what I’ve learned about pitching mechanics to this guy.
The guy I’m referring to is Paul Nyman.
His work is light years ahead of everyone in the pitching world.
As you well know, pitching philosophy’s are a dime a dozen, everyone has one…
And as you well know, it seems that the views on pitching mechanics are constantly changing.
But fortunately for me, I’m smart enough to realize something…the science of engineering and physics will never change, it remains constant.
And that’s what you’re going to discover inside of Paul’s work, it’s not some Flavor of the month, it’s real and backed by actual science.
But, you need an open mind, forget everything you’ve learned about pitching mechanics and especially everything you’ve heard, because it’s different…Way different!
Looking back I can’t imagine where my career would be had I not met DJ and had he not referred me to Paul Nyman.
All I can say is thanks to both!
If you would like to learn the truth about pitching mechanics, I’ve got only one suggestion for you…
Save yourself the pain of digging and sitting in front of a computer for the next 1,000 hours, because I’ve got it all right here…best part is-what took me 1,000 hours to learn is all laid out for you and presented in less than 2.5 hours!
It’s the best information on the planet and you won’t find it anywhere else…
See for yourself…
