What if you could fix one of the biggest flaws seen with the lower body in minutes…
One that’s responsible for secretly sucking out velocity, adding dangerous stress to your arm and preventing you from ever pitching to your max potential.
In fact, what I’m going to share with you today is by far, the #1 flaw I see with the lower-body.
But – here’s the cool part.
The game-changing ‘fix’ I’m about to share with you, will require you to treat your body/brain like a little kid using “Reverse Psychology”
Case in point.
Last week, we got hit with a snowstorm here in Nashville. Yeah, 6 inches of snow shuts down this southern city. (Insert jokes now). Glad we got that over with.
My two kids were running in and out of the house, my wife Mandy just cleaned. Not good. We told them time and time again, “Don’t come in the house. If you do, take off your shoes!”
So, what did they do?
They did what so many kids do, they didn’t listen right away. They wanted to see how far they could take it, by using the world’s oldest excuse… “I forgot!”
Ok, I get it. But – I won’t be ‘gotten’ again, I told my wife. So, here’s what I did.
I walked outside where they were building a snowman and told them both… “Hey guys, me and mom were just talking and guess what?” “We’ve decided it’s ok, to track snow in the house. In fact, I want you to bring your shovel and start scooping all the snow from the front porch, into the living room.”
Puzzled as hell, they look at me like I’m crazy and the little girl, Reagann, says… “I don’t want to Dad.”
2 hours and 2 trips inside the house later… “Not a speck of snow can be found anywhere.” In fact, they even started to get the broom out and sweep whenever they thought they had left snow.” Miraculous turn-around?
Reverse Psychology my friend!
And the same can be done with the velocity leaks secretly killing your chances for increasing your velocity, safely.

One of the biggest flaws I see, time and time again, is pitchers’ being ‘front-hip dominant’.
Here’s what’s really happening…
As we both know, energy and power transfers from the backside to the front-side. But – due to drills like the ‘Hook’em’ along with teaching mis-conceptions of ‘loading the hips’…. We’ve created a generation of pitchers whom ‘throw with all arm’ and have no chance of ever using their lower-half effectively.
Let’s compare this to a hitter… (Here’s an excerpt from last year’s 3 Day Spring Break Program)
Start at the :43 second mark of the video
I didn’t think so, that’s why I’m adding this video lesson for you…
– The arm action is drastically affected (Often leads to “high elbows” – “inverted W’s” and ‘pushing the baseball”)
– Gives the impression of throwing with ‘all arm’
– Places greater stress on the arm, especially the elbow
– Causes a pitcher to lose velocity by not utilizing his driving leg
Plus- A whole lot more that I will try and touch on later. So, the question becomes…
“How do you fix it?”
If there’s anything I’ve learned over the years, it’s this…
The body is an amazing, complex system where “Everything Affects Everything”
– It’s easy to underestimate it’s power.
– It’s easy to treat the symptom versus the cause. (connection ball training)
– It’s easy to believe all you need is weighted balls to increase velocity from the mound…
– It’s easy to believe all you need is to get stronger in the weight room…
But – neither of those will ever work by themselves.
And that’s what I see time and time again across the country.
“We UNDER-estimate the power of the SYSTEM”
So, when it comes to identifying or fixing any flaw, you need a system. (I will be sharing my entire system this February, you coming?)
Let’s take a step back for a moment…
I’d tried a couple of things last week with one of my MLB clients who had flown in for a 3 day training session. Like so many pitchers, he too, struggled with this issue. (Mostly caused by cues with Big Leaguers, ones who are told to ‘get extension’ or ‘load your hips’… not good!)
We tried several things to correct the issue and finally I got tired of trying, because nothing seemed to work. You’ve got to realize that pitching mechanics are very resistant to change, it requires you giving the body…
– Crystal clear information – any form of mis-communication will appear in the form of inefficient movement (bad mechanics)
– Allow the body to FEEL what you’re saying… (Until a pitcher can FEEL what you’re saying, he will never truly understand)
– At the end of the day, Quality trumps quantity.
And even then – It doesn’t always work.
That’s when I started thinking about my kids that day. How they had run through the house over and over, until finally, I said… “Go ahead and do the wrong thing. Mom, and I, encourage it”
So, I decided to try the ole Reverse Psychology on this MLB pitchers brain, and it worked!
Allow Dr. Allen Sills, Director of Neurosurgery at Vanderbilt Med Center elaborate…
“When un-belted the pitcher focuses only on generating max momentum and his movement patterns (mechanics) are driven by PURE motor speed and power.”
“With the belt being set up in that particular constraint, you are effectively turning “on” proprioception (FEEL) and now movement becomes more balanced as the brain gets more diverse input from the body and correspondingly adjusts or “fine tunes” the movement.”
And like I said, the best part about all of it besides it working, right away… Was this – The pitcher wasn’t even thinking about his mechanics!
