Every year at Pitch-a-Palooza, I see something different, or learn something new… And it’s always Something I would have never came up with on my own. And each year, I watch each of the presentations on video because …
It’s hard to believe I’m even talking about Pitch-a-Palooza again. Seems like yesterday Palooza15 went in the record books, and here it is September again. What’s crazy about announcing Palooza16 is that people everywhere are still blowing me up about …
5 years ago… I’m sitting on my couch surround by the 50 or so, pitching journals laying on the floor in front of me. I’m overwhelmed. I’m frustrated. I’m obsessed. At this point in my Life, I’m facing an identity …

I’ll be honest. What I’m about to share with you today isn’t for everyone. Only parents and coaches that are dead-serious about getting their hands on the best information in the world of pitching and hitting, should even bother reading …
It’s been ten years now since I discovered the treasure chest filled with gold that changed my Life and the career’s of my son, and clients.
For years, I’ve kept this secret closely guarded and it’s been tough. At times, I’ve felt a little guilty.
In fact – there’s been several times I’ve caught myself feeling paranoid, looking over my shoulder… Even though the room is completely empty.
Yesterday was the first day back for my MLB guys and you’re going to be surprised to hear what we worked on…
Like most of you reading this, the #1 area that even MLB pitchers struggle with is the hips.
It’s not even close.
And you want to know what else they struggle with?
Putting into words how they’re able or unable to perform even simple drills.
Knowing the difference between the right way and wrong way.
But, here’s what you will find interesting.
Yesterday, I welcomed four new professional clients in our doors for the first time.
Two of the pitchers are in the big leagues and the other was a 1st round pick this past season. The second guy was a supplemental 1st rounder, two years ago.
It’s quiet inside the facility on a school day and the only other person there is a trainer from across the hall. The facility connects with a fitness center.
He recognizes one of the guys and ask…”Lantz, what will you do with a guy like that? Work on his mechanics?”
Am I doing the right thing with this pitcher…
What should I change or leave alone?
Better question….”How do I know for sure?”
The year was 2005 and it was my first year at the D1 level as a college pitching coach.
I thought I had a pretty good grasp on things, I was moving up the ladder pretty quickly and in a matter of days, that all changed!
Out of no where….reality karate chopped me in the throat and I went down fast!
Today I’m in Virginia Beach headed over to Old Dominion later and then off to one of my MLB client’s weddings.
I swear I’m convinced that October is the mandatory month for MLB weddings…This is the first leg of three!
As the name states, Virginia Beach is on the water. And like any school near the water, they have a rowing team.
